Tuni (Instagram | Website), the women’s clothing boutique that has operated on Park Avenue in Winter Park since 1986, says it has been given 30 days to leave its storefront at 301 S. Park Avenue [GMap] to make way for a national retailer.
The shop shared the news in a social media post this past Monday, and we have the Instagram video embedded below. Tuni says it is not closing but is actively searching for a new location.
The displacement follows Benderson Development’s September 2024 acquisition of Park Plaza, the landmark mixed-use property that includes the 28-room Park Plaza Hotel and its ground-floor retail corridor. Commercial real estate records show Benderson paid $16.25 million for the roughly 25,000 SF property. At the time of the purchase, the company described it as an “iconic property” it planned to enhance.
No incoming national tenant has been publicly confirmed at the time of this post.
Tuni has been a fixture on one of the most-visited retail streets in Central Florida for nearly 40 years, surviving recessions, shifting trends, and the steady creep of national brands that has reshaped main streets across the country. Park Avenue has long marketed itself on the strength of its local character, and Tuni is one of the businesses that helped build it. We hope they land somewhere nearby.
