Ligature Coffee (Website), an Orlando-based specialty roaster that’s been operating for eight years, has opened its first brick-and-mortar coffee shop at 419 E. Michigan Street [GMap] in SoDo. The shop is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Founder Chris Mock has been in the Orlando coffee industry for 13 years and launched Ligature in 2017 as one of the first roasteries in Central Florida founded by a working barista. The brand has focused on sourcing coffees with an emphasis on transparency and the stories of the producers behind them. Attorney and community member Andrew Irvin has joined as a business partner.
Mock was deliberate about the location, saying via a prepared press release, “I wanted to be intentional about choosing an area that wasn’t already saturated with coffee shops,” he said. SoDo, still relatively light on specialty coffee, fit that criteria.
The menu covers espresso drinks, batch brew, pour overs, cold brew, matcha, tea, and housemade syrups, with rotating draft lattes and shop sodas. Pastries from Buttermilk Bakery are coming soon.
