The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (Website) has added an ice cream truck to its fleet that was purchased using funds seized from drug-related crimes. Sheriff Mina has shared that the goal is to use the truck at community events and neighborhood visits to engage residents in a more informal setting, particularly children and families.
The agency has not released a fixed schedule for the ice cream truck. Instead, deputies say it will appear at various community events and in neighborhoods across Orange County, with locations shared through the Sheriff’s Office’s social media channels (Facebook | Instagram).
The truck will distribute free ice cream and is intended to support relationship-building efforts between deputies and residents, like its mobile video game truck.
