Enzian screening “Ernest Saves Christmas” on Tuesday, December 9

Enzian Theater will screen Ernest Saves Christmas on Tuesday, December 9, at 9:30 p.m. as part of its holiday lineup, giving locals an overdue opportunity to revisit the 1988 comedy that was filmed throughout the metro area.

The movie, starring the amazingly talented and Orlando-born Jim Varney, follows Ernest P. Worrell as he attempts to help Santa pass his mantle to children’s show host Joe Carruthers, after he gets into some unexpected trouble. Check out our special “Apopka Snake Ranch” tank HERE on our online shop, inspired by his truck in the movie.

One of the most recognizable locations from the film was Ernest’s on-screen house, a modest 1918 structure in Thornton Park at 114 N. Hyer Avenue [GMap], that stood for decades as a quiet piece of movie history before the City allowed it to be demolished in 2022.

Tickets for the screening are $11.50 and are available for purchase HERE.
