The crew at CTK and Affiliates (Linktree) is set to premiere a new film project next month that highlights the importance of mental health awareness within the African American community and explores the unique struggles and mental makeup of Black men.
The two-part documentary is called “he-Motions,” and will debut on October 27 at the BECC suites in Kissimmee, and will highlight interviews that focus on practical steps to start healing from past traumas, and carries the message that “vulnerability is not weakness.” It starts with the history of slavery, moves into Jim Crow, and then reflects on their generational effects.
The team is also launching a program called IronMen Partnerships to extend the conversation around mental health beyond the film, centered on sharing a meal, screening the movie, and then leading a group conversation to digest the lessons of the film.
Follow them on social media for more information on the screening and how to register.
BECC Suites is located at 820 Emmett Street [GMap] in Kissimmee.
